Student Attendance
In accordance with state law, all parents/guardians are responsible to have their children (between ages 6-18 years old) attend school full-time unless they have a legal excuse. (WI § 118.15(1)(a).
The school board shall provide each pupil enrolled in the public schools in the district with a copy of the policies established under this subsection and shall file a copy of the policies in each school in the district. In addition, the school board shall make copies available upon request.WI § 118.16(4)(d)

Habitual Truancy
The School Attendance Officer shall notify a truant student's parent of the student's truancy and direct the parent to return the student to school no later than the next day on which school is in session or to provide an excuse for the absence. When a student initially becomes a habitual truant, the School Attendance Officer shall provide a notice to the student's parent, by registered or certified mail, or by 1st class mail. Student Attendance of Open-Enrollment Students and Habitual Truancy
If the Board determines that a student is habitually truant during either semester of the current school year, the Board may prohibit the nonresident student from attending in the succeeding semester or school year. The Superintendent shall assure compliance with DPI regulations pertaining to open enrollment termination found in Wis. Admin Code PI 36.09. See po 5113 - Open Enrollment (Inter-District).
