To foster and maintain a sense of belonging to the Arrowhead community of students, staff and families so that our students can achieve social, emotional and academic success through proactive systemic supports.
The Arrowhead Way is Arrowhead's version of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. As a Response to Intervention model (RtI), PBIS applies a three-tiered system of support and a problem-solving process to enhance the capacity of schools to effecitvely educate all students. This is a proactive systems approach to: establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all data-based decision-making and aligning curricular instruction and behavioral support needs.
School's applying PBIS begin by establishing clear expectations for student and staff behavior that are taught, modeled and reinforced by all staff. This provides a host environments supporting the adoption and sustained use of social/emotional instruction. PBIS has proven its effectiveness and efficiency as an Evidence-Based Practice(Sugai & Horner, 2007). The principles and practices of PBIS are consistent with federal education mandates such as No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 (IDEA).
