David graduated from Arrowhead in 2003 as one of the best golfers in school history. He was a 4-year Varsity letter winner, a 2-time All-State selection (2002, 2003), and a member of the first WIAA State Championship team in Arrowhead history. He was selected All-American by the American Junior Golf Association in 2002 and was the winner of the World Junior Masters in 2000.
David graduated from Northwestern with a BA degree in Economics in 2007. At Northwestern, he was a 4-year Varsity letter winner in golf. He was selected All Big Ten twice and in 2006 was named the Big Ten Player of the Year. In 2006, David was on the Northwestern team that won the Big Ten Championship. In 2005 he was the individual winner of the Big Ten-Pac 10 Golf Challenge.
In 2005, David was the winner of the WSGA Best Ball Championship where he was teammates with Charlie Delsman, another Arrowhead graduate and 2019 Athletic Hall of Fame athlete. In 2006 and 2007 David qualified to play in the US Amateur Championships. In 2007 he was a Double Gold Medal winner in the Maccabi Pan American Games held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. David played professional golf from 2007-2010. He also served as an assistant golf coach at Marquette University from 2010-2012.
David still holds the Chenequa Country Club course record with a 60 which is 11 under par.
In 2012, David went back to school for a pre-medical baccalaureate so that he could attend medical school. From 2014-2018 he attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. From 2018-2023 he was in the Orthopedic Surgery Residency at New York University. He is currently completing additional training in hand and upper arm extremity surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. This summer David will return to his Wisconsin roots as he joins Orthopaedic Associates of Wisconsin as an orthopedic surgeon.
David’s wife, Jordan Scher, is also a doctor and they have two daughters; Ella (3) and Violet (1).
