Matt Snyder had his impact on Arrowhead sports as an outstanding offensive lineman on the Arrowhead football team, being a letter winner his sophomore, junior and senior year. Matt also participated on the track team his junior and senior year in shotput.
While a member of the 1993 State Championship football team, the first in the history of Arrowhead, Matt earned 2nd Team All Conference and Honorable Mention All State. The team record that year was 12 1.
His senior year, he was a member of the 1994 State Championship football team as back to back champions, and Matt was selected as a High School All American, 1st Team All State, 1st Team All Area, 1st Team All County, 1st Team All Conference, and was a team captain for the Warhawks. The team record that year was 13 0.
After graduating from Arrowhead in 1995, Matt was awarded a football scholarship to Indiana University, becoming a 3 year Varsity letter winner. While at Indiana, he received the Ted Whereatt Award, awarded to the senior player who had excelled academically. Matt was an academic All Big Ten recipient in 1997, 1998 and 1999, and an academic All American in 1999.
In 2000, he was recognized with the Big Ten Medal of Honor, which is identified as “One of the most prestigious conference awards in college athletics, the Big Ten Medal of Honor was first awarded in 1915 to one student athlete from the graduating class of each university who had attained the greatest proficiency in athletics and scholastic work.”
Matt works and resides in northern California with his wife Jackie and loves to spend as much time outdoors as he can. He stays active in weightlifting, CrossFit, running, hiking and obstacle course racing. He is a self claimed addict to pickleball.
