Academic Awards & Recognitions: US News and World Report regularly names AHS as one of the Best High Schools in the nation, AHS included on Newsweek's Top 5,000 STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) Schools in the nation lists AHS within the top 1%, Washington Post consistently names AHS as one of America's Most Challenging High Schools, over half of the AHS study body is in the honors program (3.5 GPA or higher), students regularly are named semi-finalists and even US Presidential Scholars in the National Merit Scholarship program, students earn regional Scholastic Art Awards, have their writing published in state and national periodicals, etc. Arrowhead received a 5-star 'Significantly Exceeds Expectations' rating on WI DPI's Wisconsin Accountability Report Card, placing AHS in the top 1-2% of 500+ high schools.
Club Events & Recognitions: SAVE Team is featured in "Best of Milwaukee" by Milwaukee Magazine for their work with WWII veterans and holocaust survivors, DECA Club hosts 5,000 community members at Hawkfest for family fun and fund-raising for local charities, Forensics Team competes in state and national finals, Cyberhawks Robotics Team places at state competition, DECA Team competes in state and national competitions, the Broadway Company earns Tommy Awards for musicals, Engineering Team earns statewide recognition, etc.
Athletic Awards & Recognitions: Arrowhead has 30 athletic teams. State champion teams in 2020-21 included boys ski, and boys track & field. State runner-up teams in 2020-21 included girls gymnastics, girls lacrosse, girls golf, girls swim & dive, and boys soccer. AHS was ranked as #3 best high school for athletic programs in the country by Niche Publications. Boys ice hockey and girls basketball teams received Classic 8 Conference Sportsmanship Awards.
Post-Graduate Plans: Annually, approximately 99.3% of graduates attend a 4 or 2-year college or university immediately following high school.
ACT Average Scores: Arrowhead's student achievement tops the list of Waukesha County High Schools on standardized assessments such as the ACT (24.0 composite) .
Advanced Placement (AP) Courses & Scores: Approximately 20 AP (college level) courses are offered annually; exam passing rate of 3 or higher =85.6%.
Special Education: Comprehensive and wide-ranging services are offered in accordance with IEP goals for qualifying students, resulting in extremely high graduation rates and smooth transitions into college and/or community workplaces. Additionally, Arrowhead is a strong supporter and leader within the Special Olympics and Job Olympics programs.
Academic & Social/Emotional Support Systems: A wide range of programs, interventions and supports exist for students who struggle in an ongoing manner or just from time to time. Services offered through support teachers, six school counselors, two school psychologists, administrators, formalized programs, and even voluntary in-school tutors.
Community Service: Approximately 90% of AHS students participate each year in volunteerism projects, benefiting communities near and far, as well as the students themselves. Approximately 150+ service projects are completed each school year, with over 10,000 hours of student time being contributed to help others.
Visual and Performing Arts: Arrowhead boasts state and nationally recognized services and performances in visual arts, drama, musicals, vocal and instrumental programs. Broadway Company's musical "Catch Me if You Can" nominated for many won a Best Jerry Awards. Seven AHS students were 2020 Scholastic Art Award winners.
Athletics: Other than UW-Madison, apparently more athletic programs are offered at Arrowhead than any other high school or college in Wisconsin. While a winning tradition exists, more importantly we stress sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, perseverance, and service to community in our athletes. Well over 60% of our students participate in one or more athletic programs.
Co-curricular Clubs and Programs: As many as 50 clubs are offered every year, from National Honor Society to Special Olympics, from Robotics to Psych Club ... there is something for everyone at Arrowhead. Well over 60% of our students participate in an academic or fine arts-related co-curricular activity.
Unique Campus/Facilities: The South Campus building (hosting freshman and sophomore courses), the North Campus building (hosting junior and senior courses) and the HG Mullett Ice Center are our three buildings, among fields, stadiums, and a high ropes course, situated on a 117 acre campus.
School Safety: Many proactive student and staff safety features and protocols are in place, including a full-time school resource office/country sheriff deputy on campus, locked doors, visitor background check system, 200+ security cameras, a comprehensive crisis response plan and team that meets regularly, emergency drills with students and staff, consistent collaboration with law enforcement and other school safety experts, etc.
Classroom Technology: The campus-wide wireless network and state-of-the art programs and hardware allow for every student and staff member to use technology as a meaningful tool to enhance instruction and learning.
Career Academic Pathways: Specialized instruction and activities allow students community-based learning and work practicums, with options including engineering, manufacturing, health science, integrated learning, and global experiences. Three student business are operated at Arrowhead- Warhawk Manufacturing, Cafe Arrowhead Restaurant, and Wally Grounds Coffee Shop.
World Languages & Cultures: Introductory to college-level courses in Spanish, Chinese, French and German are offered including cultural/global experiences in courses, as well as through annual optional trips abroad.
Service to Veterans: Arrowhead staff and students are consistent, strong supporters of US veterans. Annually, we host a Veteran's Day breakfast, Stars & Stripes Honor Flights fundraisers such as a spaghetti dinner and movie-showing and veterans' morning coffee & doughnuts. Regularly, student groups welcome veterans back from their honor flights at the MKE airport, as well as write letters to vets or meet with them to hear their service stories.
Parent & Community Engagement and Communication: Active booster clubs, advisory groups, Arrowhead Scholarship Foundation, and volunteerism are some of many ways community members are involved with Arrowhead. Consistent, transparent communications come from various sources including email, mailers, Arrowhead Advisor district e-newsletter, timely Skylert email blasts, calls, meetings, and social media outlets including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
